"Forsyth County’s annual luncheon to end domestic violence, suitably called ‘Home Free,’ is one of the most important events held in October in our community. As we listened to Mildred Muhammad’s story about how her ex-husband, the “DC Sniper’, terrorized millions in Washington, shooting random people as a smokescreen in his plan to kill her, we were reminded that domestic violence survivors often do not have physical scars of their abuse. Libba and I were fortunate to serve as chairs of Home Free this year. Not only were critical funds raised for Family Services and the Children’s Law Center, but the event enabled others to become informed about the important services both agencies provide to women and children living in fear of the one they love."
Jim Lambie and Libba Evans,
Home Free Honorary Chairs
